Assistive Technology

We believe that life should be accessible for everyone. Assistive technology is equipment that allows people of all abilities to participate in life.

Our OTs can assess your current physical skills and your need for different types of equipment, such as modified cutlery, electric lounge chairs, and height-adjustable beds.

Animal-assisted therapy, also known as AAT, is a type of therapy where a trained clinician incorporates an animal into therapy plans as a way to support clients of all ages achieve their functional independence goals.

Our program has been designed to support clients achieve their therapy goals across a number of different areas to support their development. AAT services are provided by our occupational therapist, Ash, and her therapy dog, Koda at our Superyou hubs in the Perth metro area.

Hippotherapy is a treatment technique carried out by specially trained physiotherapists, occupational and speech therapists. Hippotherapy utilises the impact of the horse’s movement which mimics the movement of a human pelvis when walking. This graded motor and sensory input from the horse influences the client’s movement and facilitates achieving their therapy goals.

Our Perth-based physiotherapist, Lily Harris uses hippotherapy as an effective treatment technique for our clients to achieve their mobility goals, with the support of the the RDA Oakford (Riding for the Disabled) team.

Superyou OTs can complete a Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) assessment to determine your ability to live safely. An SDA assessment is the first step to finding a safe and suitable home that matches your needs.

A comfortable home is vitally important for your well-being. Homes don’t always match our physical needs, so Superyou OTs can assess your home and recommend ways to make it safer and easier for you to live. This can include installing ramps, rails, or even complex bathroom modifications. Modifying your home to match your needs will empower you to live comfortably with the necessary supports.

Superyou Therapy proudly offers Occupational Therapist Driving Assessments (OTDA). Sometimes called OTDA, driving assessments may be required if your medical condition or disability makes it difficult for you to gain your driver’s license.

But don’t worry, our OTs can help! They will assess your potential to drive/return to driving and show you a range of vehicle modifications such as hand controls to make driving more accessible.
