What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
I wanted a career in health that aligned with my values and what I consider is important. I thought speech pathology was a way to support others to maintain connections with people who are important to them.
Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?
I have a specialist interest in dysphagia (swallowing) and mealtime management, and in neurological rehabilitation. In both of these areas I have found that small improvements - like being able to eat a piece of toast, or saying a simple phrase like "I love you" - can actually be a big step forward for clients.
What's your favourite part of your job?
Helping clients develop their own goals for their therapy, and working with them to achieve them.
Why did you join Superyou?
I thought Superyou's values aligned with my own, and I liked their focus on client-centred practice.

What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
I’ve always been fascinated by the power of language and how essential it is for connecting with others. The opportunity to support people in expressing themselves, whether through speech, gestures, or alternative communication methods, deeply motivates me. I’m particularly inspired by the ability to work across multimodal domains, where different tools, such as assistive technology or visual aids, can empower individuals to find their voice. Seeing the profound impact that improved communication can have on a person's life is something deeply special to me.
Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?
I am particularly drawn to working with speech sounds and phonological interventions, helping individuals improve articulation and phonological awareness. I am also fascinated by multimodal communication, using a range of tools and strategies to support those with complex communication needs. Additionally, I have a strong interest in literacy, particularly how speech and language development intertwine with reading and writing skills.
What's your favourite part of your job?
What I enjoy most about my job is the opportunity to work closely with parents and families. Developing strong, collaborative relationships with families and communication partners allows me to create personalised strategies that integrate seamlessly into the home environment, making communication more effective and meaningful. I find great fulfillment in helping my clients discover their unique voice and empowering them to communicate confidently, whether through speech or alternative methods.

What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
I have always had such positive memories of Speech Pathology through my own experience as a little girl, and wanted to be able to learn more about this profession. Little did I know, I was about to learn what a rewarding, people centred, compassionate, fun, challenging career I was embarking on, where I am able to support, grow, play and advocate with the most amazing little people and their families every day. I have never looked back.
Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?
My passion is within Early Childhood Intervention and all that this entails, including supporting language development, fostering play and fun, developing speech and literacy, exploring alternative communicative methods (AAC), coaching parents and teachers and advocating for inclusion within all of their favourite activities.
What's your favourite part of your job?
My favourite part of my role is developing such long term relationships with my clients and their families. It is such a privilege to be a part of a child's journey and supporting meaningful goals alongside their family as they grow and begin to explore new skills, relationships and environments.
Why did you join Superyou?
I joined Superyou to be a part of a culture that advocated for each clinician as an individual, supporting their individual career goals, interest areas and creating flexibility that allows me to achieve a positive work life balance.

What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
I chose a career in speech pathology because I love helping people, I love being creative and I love a good chat!
Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?
I am currently upskilling in dysphagia and mealtimes! This is a special interest of mine because I come from a big family and I know how important mealtimes can be. Not only so that we can get fed but to spend time with each other, spread the love and enjoy ourselves! I want to make sure that my clients are able to enjoy their meals and celebrations with their friends and family safely. I also have a strong interest in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). Seeing my clients work towards their goals through having access to extra modes of communication such as AAC makes me smile!
What's your favourite part of your job?
My favourite part is making sure that I bring activities or ideas which not only target intervention but are also fun and important to my clients!
Why did you join Superyou?
One thing that stood out to me about Superyou was being asked "what do you love about speech pathology?" in the job interview... I had never been asked that before and it certainly made me think!

What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
I don't think I actually understood the full scope of a speech pathologist when I first started my Speech Pathology degree. I knew I wanted to go into an occupation that helped people and despite putting down OT and Speech Pathology in my preferences, I ended up going into Speech Pathology. My passion for working in the disability sector started while on my university placements and after seeing the vital role of a Speech Pathologist in post head injury rehabilitation.
Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?
I have a special interest in working with children and adults in the area of dysphagia, mealtimes, and feeding. I regularly participate in professional development in this area to ensure my skills and knowledge are up to date with current practices.
What's your favourite part of your job?
Working with individuals and their families, caregivers, and support staff to reduce the stress and anxiety around mealtimes and eating and drinking. When possible, I enjoy working collaboratively with Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists to ensure the individual is well supported in all aspects of their mealtime.
Why did you join Superyou?
As a working parent, having proper flexibility in my schedule to allow for school holidays, school drop offs, and the ability to work part time as a Senior Clinician was a very important for me. Superyou allows me this flexibility so I can have a good balance between my work and home life.
What does Reimagining Therapy look like to you?
For me, reimagining therapy looks like making sure our services and therapy approaches are tailored to the individuals' specific needs and goals. Being creative with how we work towards goals and ensuring that goals are targeted in ways that are meaningful for the individual.
If you had to give Allied Health students a hot tip on their course and placements, what would it be?
If given the opportunity to work collaboratively with other allied health students, take it! We learn so much from our allied health colleagues and having a solid understanding of their roles and how we work together results in better outcomes for the individuals we support.
Also remember that finishing your university course content and placements is just the start of your learning as a Speech Pathologist and Allied Health Professional. You will learn so much in your first year of work!

What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?

What's your favourite part of your job?
I promise I am not trying to be cliche when I say this but I love working alongside people! I could never be in a role where I didn't talk to anyone all day. I love seeing participants in their homes, the community, and the clinic, and looking for snacks in the office with my colleagues.

What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
I come from a long line of family member that have devoted their life to the service and support of others which has always inspired me to give back to my community. See others achieve goals and engage in tasks they never thought possible drove me to peruse a career in occupational therapy. Nothing brings me more joy then enabling someone to live their fullest life.
Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?
My specialty area of occupational therapy is animal-assisted therapy! Most people know me not by name but by my therapy dog, Koda. I choose to embark on my journey as a canine-assisted occupational therapist during my second year of university when I witnessed first hand the power of animals on regulation, engagement and motivation during one of my placements. From their my passion only grew and I knew my path was to to enable others to achieve their goals with 4 little fluffy paws by my side.

What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
I have a previous career in public relations/media, after working a few years on organising press conferences and product launch events, I wanted to develop a career that is more meaningful and impacts people's lives positively. I have strong interest in communication and language, and that drove me to Speech Pathology!
Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?
Absolutely AAC as I'm in the AAC team! English is my second language and I can really empathise with people who cannot communicate freely (that still happens to me every now and then!). I resonate with people who don't have a voice and am dedicated to giving them a voice with my professional knowledge.
What's your favourite part of your job?
Definitely helping people to have a 'voice' and express themselves freely, or just building their capacity to do so! Empowering my clients to have access to an alternate way to express messages other than verbal language, and build up their confidence to communicate freely. Seeing the joy from clients and their families when achieving these little steps are the best motivation!
Why did you join Superyou?
I just came back from maternity leave (my little one just turned one year old) and wanting to find a workplace that cares for its employees, have the flexibility and of course a place that I can continue doing what I love - AAC. Superyou meets all my needs!

What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
I was instantly captivated by Occupational Therapy and the idea that the things we do in our daily lives (our occupations), have unique meaning, purpose, and value. Our ability to participate meaningfully in our life has a direct impact on many health outcomes and our sense of wellbeing.
Basically, I love the idea that living a life that has self defined meaning and value improves our physical and mental health. So by supporting others to be able to live their lives to the fullest has a huge impact on their quality of life.
Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?
I have a keen interest in mental health, in particular with youth and adolescents. In the context of the NDIS I believe it is such an important consideration when working with people who may have more difficulty engaging in a mainstream mental health setting, either due to difficulties with their ability to express and understand their emotions, physical access barriers, and a number of exclusion criteria that apply to the mainstream sector.
I believe that our mental health and sense of wellbeing play such a pivotal role in the quality of life we get to lead and can often be the difference in being able to confidently pursue our goals and aspirations in life.
What's your favourite part of your job?
Corny answers are hard to avoid, but I love the team I get to work with at Superyou. I place such a high importance on being able to enjoy the space in which you work and there are many like minded individuals who contribute to a wonderful and healthy work environment.
I also get a great deal of satisfaction seeing my clients working towards and accomplishing their goals, becoming more independent, ticking that thing of their list that they have been trying to achieve for months or years.
Why did you join Superyou?
After spending 5 years working across a number of different clinical areas during my time living in the UK, I decided to move home to be closer to my family and friends in Perth again. With this move came a big decision as to where I wanted to take my career next.
I have always loved working in the disability sector and with the remarkable people who comprise it. Families, therapists, support staff, and chiefly the people for whom I deliver services. So when a previous colleague, and someone I greatly admire, reached out to tell me about the organisation they had recently started with called Superyou, and after speaking with them about the vision and objectives for the organisation, and the ability to continue to explore my interest in Mental Health, within the context of the NDIS I was very excited to start to help build the organisation from the ground up.
What does Reimagining Therapy look like to you?
Reimagining Therapy is an opportunity to think outside the box of what is typical when considering how therapy is supposed to "look". It gives creative freedom for therapists to address our clients goals in a means that best suits their unique strengths and abilities, as well as the strengths of the people around them.

My qualifications
Bachelor of Science (Speech Pathology) - Curtin University.
My specialisation/special interest
I am passionate about supporting people with complex communication needs and all things Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC). I also love working in early childhood intervention and empowering families.
My superpower, if I could have anything
Hand-eye coordination. Not technically a superpower, but it would be for me! Apologies to the many drinks and breakables lost due to my bad hand-eye coordination.
What gets me up in the morning
About 10 alarms spaced three minutes apart. Also getting to do a job that I love, with an amazing team helps too… (but mostly the alarms).
Why I joined Superyou
I joined Superyou for the chance to be part of something new and different. Everything about ‘reimagining therapy’ resonated with me, particularly the flexibility to change, adapt and add to our service to match our client needs. When I heard that Superyou is committed to putting people first, I knew it was for me.

What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
Growing up I was always very indecisive (unfortunately I still haven't grown out of this) about what I wanted do when I got older, but I always knew that I ultimately wanted to help others and make a difference in people's lives.
This indecisiveness led to me applying to many different courses for university but eventually what led me to OT was the emphasis and passion we place on understanding the people we work with holistically, and helping them to do the things that make them happy, are meaningful to them and ultimately help them thrive!
Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?
I'm constantly learning about all the different areas we as OTs can specialise in which is so fascinating, but I have always had a special interest in anything and everything to do with the brain and how this impacts our daily life. I also have developed a strong passion for working in the early intervention space, and general paediatrics to support children and their families to achieve their goals.
What's your favourite part of your job?
This is a tough question to narrow down as I have so many parts of my job that I love and are so special to me. The culture we have at Superyou, and seeing and learning from my colleagues everyday, as well as developing strong therapeutic relationships with my clients and their families and seeing them achieve their goals makes me so happy.
Why did you join Superyou?
I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to complete my third-year university placement with Superyou and it was one of the best placements I had that I constantly reflect on. After that, Superyou always stuck with me and I knew it was the place I wanted to be to begin and develop my career.
What does Reimagining Therapy look like to you?
To me, Reimaging Therapy is about consistently approaching your service with a person-centered lens, in which the client is the expert on their life and their needs, and using this lens to deliver a holistic, individualised approach that may look different than traditional approaches. I believe it is also about placing an emphasis on the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, as well as us as clinicians filling our own cups and looking after ourselves, so we can better support our clients to do the same.

What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
I have always been drawn to working with people in a helping profession. I felt as though Occupational Therapy suited me best as it allows me to work holistically and with the goals that re most important to the person.

My role is to enable people to control their technology using alternative methods such as switch access, eye gaze, integrated wheelchair controls and mounting.
What's your favourite part of your job?

What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
I choose to be a speech pathologist as I am passionate about making a meaningful impact in people's lives by enabling them to achieve success in relationships, at school or work and to be the best that they can possibly be.
Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?
I have spent most of my career working with a wide range of paediatric clients and their families. During this time, I developed a passion for supporting families to develop stronger relationships and understanding each other's needs. My training and experience has shaped how I work with families and in considering the whole family unit in the therapeutic process. I also have a strong passion for working with school aged children in their literacy development as well as supporting their ability to access the academic curriculum.
What's your favourite part of your job?
My favourite part about supporting children and families is the joy that comes from witnessing a child's progress and seeing the positive impact it has on their lives and their families. I cherish the opportunity to build strong relationships with families, providing them with the guidance and support they need to navigate their child's developmental journey. The collaborative and personal nature of this work make a lasting difference to my clients.
As a manager, I love coaching and developing other clinicians and having the opportunity to inspire and guide them toward their professional growth. Witnessing their progress and successes is highly rewarding, as it not only contributes to their personal development but also improves the quality of care for our clients.
Why did you join Superyou?
As clinicians, we are very good at helping others, but not so great at looking after ourselves. I've always believed that if clinicians are looked after, they are supported and happy, then their clients will reap the benefits. They will get a clinician who is innovative and creative, that can put in 110%, can hold space for them and support them. When I discovered Superyou's philosophy that clinicians come first, I knew I had found a company that mirrored my own values and couldn't wait to sign up!
What does Reimagining Therapy look like to you?
Reimagining therapy means moving beyond traditional methods to find more effective, engaging, and accessible ways to support clients. It requires fostering a culture of continuous learning and adaptation, where clinicians are encouraged to explore new ideas, collaborate, and push the boundaries of what is possible.

What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
I've always enjoyed working with others and having the opportunity to help other people - so working in healthcare was always something I wanted to do. However, it took me a while to figure out which healthcare sector I wanted to go into - so first I did Nursing (and discovered it wasn't something I loved). Then I completed a Bachelor in Anatomy and Human Bio and did a broadening unit in Italian - which was when I discovered my passion for languages. Then choosing Speech Pathology was kind of an easy decision - as it combined science, languages, and the opportunity to support others 🙂
Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?
This is a hard question as there are so many areas in speech that I would like to learn more about! At the moment, I'm really enjoying learning more about early intervention and social skills. Every single client that I see has different strengths and areas requiring support, so it's exciting to learn more so that I can provide the best support possible.
What's your favourite part of your job?
My favourite part of the job is being able to work with a variety of clients and having such a supportive team that are always there to make my day happier and easier!
Why did you join Superyou?
I had my last student placement at Superyou which helped me learn more about the disability sector (and fall in love with it). Also, this gave me the opportunity to work with the team and learn more about Superyou's team culture/philosophy - which I thought was amazing and so so supportive! Having a supportive and positive work environment is very important to me, so even before I graduated I had no doubt where I wanted to work!
What does Reimagining Therapy look like to you?
Making sure every single session and therapy plan is tailored to my clients' interests and likes, to support their engagement and make therapy fun!
Wild card question - what else should we know about you!
I was born and raised in Brazil - which helps me understand a bit more about cultural diversity and how to better support multicultural clients in therapy.

What's your favourite part of your job?
The amazing team and support to become the best professional and clinician possible!
Why did you join Superyou?
The vibrant and energetic feel it gave off as well as all of the clinicians I had spoken to who were already working at Superyou! I also found the Kickstarter Program to be one of the best graduate programs I had seen around.
What does Reimagining Therapy look like to you?
Reimagining Therapy is about breaking the mould of what the traditional or mainstream therapy looks like. It's not about changing the evidence-base behind therapies, but about including all stakeholders as equals and giving them a seat at the table when deciding what therapy looks like for each client as individiduals.

What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
I really wanted to be able to help people improve their quality of life and engage in activities that were important to them. I also wanted to work in a growing profession that works with clients to achieve their personal goals to increase their independence.
Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?
I have interests in food play therapy, emotional regulation and pediatrics that I hope to get a bit more experience in as I progress.
What's your favourite part of your job?
That everyday there is something new and there is so much variety on the type of work we can do!
Why did you join Superyou?
I joined Superyou because of the supportive and structured Kickstarter program, the fun environment and work culture, and the realistic expectations for Kickstarters! The amount of training and education provided for Kickstarters to develop professional knowledge, as well as the slow progression of caseload, helped ensure my career was able to begin without being overwhelming!
What does Reimagining Therapy look like to you?
Ensuring therapy is person-centered and every approach is specifically tailored to the person and maintaining open and honest communication with clients and families to allow for choice and control over their therapy and informed consent.

What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
I was intrigued by the Speech Pathology profession from a very young age. My brother had seen a Speech Pathologist for a few years, and I remember sitting in on his therapy sessions thinking how rewarding (and totally awesome) it would be to be that special person that will support someone to achieve their communication goals. So, here I am!
Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?
My special area of interest is in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). I enjoy working with my clients, their families, and their supports, to get the right equipment for them, to ensure that they are able to communicate and participate to the best of their ability.
What's your favourite part of your job?
I'm constantly learning and growing every day, no day is ever the same! I love being out on the road - supporting clients to achieve their communication goals across all of their environments (home, school and out in the community).
Why did you join Superyou?
I wanted to be part of something new and exciting, and work for an organisation which values its staff and clients. Superyou truly prioritises employees to ensure we can prioritise and provide the best service for our clients.

What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
I was driven to choose a career in occupational therapy because of my strong desire to help individuals lead fulfilling and independent lives. The holistic approach of occupational therapy, focusing on both physical and emotional well-being, deeply resonated with me. Witnessing the transformative impact of therapy on people's daily lives, particularly those with developmental challenges inspired me to pursue this path. Additionally, the opportunity to work collaboratively with families and other professionals to develop personalised interventions fuelled my passion for this rewarding and impactful career.
Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?
I love the broadness of occupational therapy, which is why I have no plans to specialise as of yet. I have a particular interest in Early Childhood Intervention, as I love to see how little lives can be impacted positively by occupational therapy.
I love being able to play all day and get to call it work! Being able to see the smiles on the little kiddies, and see them achieve their goals through play is one of the most rewarding parts of this profession. Not to mention, I love being able to work within a tightknit team, who support and encourage each other to be the best therapist they can be.
What's your favourite part of your job?
Superyou offered so many principles that aligned with my own values. They offered a supportive, and accommodating environment that meant I could develop my clinical skills in a team that would encourage me to be the best I could be, rather than expecting me to fit an existing mold. Superyou offered innovation and was changing the way therapy is delivered, which I thought was what occupational therapy should be about.

What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
I have a deep passion for understanding how communication shapes our connections and experiences. From a young age, I was intrigued by how language influences personal expression, relationships, and overall well-being. Over time, I realised how impactful it could be to support individuals in overcoming communication challenges, whether it's through improving speech clarity, enhancing social skills, or aiding recovery after an injury. The ability to help someone find their voice, both literally and figuratively, is incredibly fulfilling, and it drives my commitment to this rewarding profession.
Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?
I am primarily interested in mealtime support, speech sounds, literacy, and social communication skills. I find early childhood intervention particularly rewarding, as it allows me to make a significant impact during the crucial developmental years. Additionally, I am interested in working with GLP clients, tailoring interventions to suit their unique needs. These areas allow me to support children in building essential communication skills and confidence that will benefit them throughout their lives.
What's your favourite part of your job?
The Superyou culture is truly something special! I have the privilege of working alongside some incredible clinicians who are not only highly skilled but also passionate about making a difference in the lives of our clients.
Why did you join Superyou?
I joined Superyou because of the structured graduate program. Plus, I've heard nothing but great things from my peers who did their pracs here, which made me even more excited to join. It felt like the perfect place to start my career and grow professionally.
What does Reimagining Therapy look like to you?
To me, Reimagining Therapy means approaching each client's needs with creativity and flexibility, finding new and innovative ways to engage and support them. What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
I have loved talking and interacting with people since I was young and that soon shaped into this drive to support people which eventually led me to allied health. I chose Speech Pathology just to see if I like it and instead I fell in LOVE! I love how we can support people in so many ways through speech, language and even mealtimes! I also enjoy living all the small wins with people, working towards their long term goals.
Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?
I really enjoy providing mealtime supports as food is such a huge part of my culture and live and knowing this drives me to get creative to ensure all our clients can enjoy all the foods they love whilst being safe. I also enjoy working in Early Intervention, following the child's lead in therapy and supporting them with their communication development through play and meaningful experiences.
What's your favourite part of your job?
I enjoy working with my wider team, especially joint sessions because I always come out of those session having learnt more about how to support our clients holistically. I also really enjoy the culture Superyou strives to provide and always feel taken care of.
Why did you join Superyou?
I was drawn to all the perks and supports Superyou provides, initially I questioned how they would deliver everything they were offering but since joining Superyou has stuck by all their values and promises! I am also proud to be working for an organisation that takes care of their employees and prioritises mental wellbeing.
