How these billing changes support sustainable, high-quality, and relationship-based therapy for every client
When you book a service – like a tradie, a hairdresser, or a mobile vet – you are not just paying for the time they spend doing the job. You’re also paying for their time arriving, setting up, having a conversation, and making sure everything’s done properly.
Allied Health services work in the same way – especially when we’re supporting clients in community settings like schools and homes.
At Superyou Therapy, our team doesn’t just step in for 30 minutes, deliver therapy, and step out. We build connection, collaborate with the people around our clients, and ensure that supports are meaningful, individualised, and set up to last.
That’s why we’ve made a small, but important change: all community visits are now booked as a minimum of 60 minutes.
What does this actually mean?
This shift doesn’t necessarily mean your clinician will be doing more therapy with clients than before. It means we are now recognising the full scope of the work we already do and ensuring that we have the time to build capacity with families and schools to ensure these skills extend beyond the therapy session.
When our clinicians visit a school or home, they are:
- Engaging in face-to-face therapy
- Building rapport and connection
- Supporting teachers, support workers, and family members
- Coaching you to embed strategies into everyday routines
- Writing notes, creating visuals or resources, and planning next steps
- Supporting generalisation of goals across environments
All of these things are critical to relationship-based, neuroaffirming support, and this will now all be captured, within the scheduled session time.
Billing Examples
Here are some visual examples of community sessions, including a breakdown of typical activities and time spent on them. Please note these are for illustrative purposes only.
Why we’ve made this change
There are two important reasons:
- To keep our services sustainable
Recent changes to NDIS pricing mean we need to account for the full time our team spends supporting clients – not just direct face-to-face minutes. Without this, continuing community-based therapy (in homes and schools) becomes difficult for many providers. - To deliver what we know is best practice
At Superyou, our approach is grounded in connection, collaboration, and real-life learning within our client’s natural environments.
We focus on what matters most – helping our clients connect, engage, and thrive through everyday moments and relationships.
This model works best when we:
- Spend time building genuine connections
- Coach and support the people around the client (parents, teachers, carers)
- Embed strategies into natural learning environments
- Create space for shared understanding, trust, and play
- Provide resources and ideas that work beyond the therapy session
By booking community sessions as a 60-minute package, we can make room for all of this – without rushing, cutting corners, or missing opportunities for collaboration.
This is about the whole therapy experience – not just the minutes
Think of it like a bundled service. Just like a plumber charges for the job (not just the time spent under the sink), we’re charging for the entire therapeutic experience – from the moment we arrive to the time we’ve packed up, documented, and prepared for next time.
We want to empower families, educators, and support teams to feel confident. To understand the “why” behind strategies. To be part of the journey – not just observers of it.
What this means for you and/or your client
- More time for meaningful conversations
- Greater support across all environments e.g. home, school, and community
- Increased collaboration with the people who know and care for our clients
- Strategies that actually fit into real life, not just therapy rooms
- Empowerment for parents and carers to support progress every day
Let’s keep working together
We know this is a change, and it’s okay to have questions. But we want to reassure you: this decision is rooted in our commitment to delivering high-quality, personalised care that is both sustainable and effective.
If you are unsure about anything, or just want to talk it through, our team is always happy to chat. We want you to feel informed, supported, and confident that this change is helping us do what we love most – supporting our clients to grow, thrive, and feel proud of their progress.
Thank you for being part of our community.
