What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?

I wanted a career in health that aligned with my values and what I consider is important. I thought speech pathology was a way to support others to maintain connections with people who are important to them.

Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?

I have a specialist interest in dysphagia (swallowing) and mealtime management, and in neurological rehabilitation. In both of these areas I have found that small improvements – like being able to eat a piece of toast, or saying a simple phrase like “I love you” – can actually be a big step forward for clients.

What’s your favourite part of your job?

Helping clients develop their own goals for their therapy, and working with them to achieve them.
