What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
I choose to be a speech pathologist as I am passionate about making a meaningful impact in people’s lives by enabling them to achieve success in relationships, at school or work and to be the best that they can possibly be.
Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?
I have spent most of my career working with a wide range of paediatric clients and their families. During this time, I developed a passion for supporting families to develop stronger relationships and understanding each other’s needs. My training and experience has shaped how I work with families and in considering the whole family unit in the therapeutic process. I also have a strong passion for working with school aged children in their literacy development as well as supporting their ability to access the academic curriculum.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
My favourite part about supporting children and families is the joy that comes from witnessing a child’s progress and seeing the positive impact it has on their lives and their families. I cherish the opportunity to build strong relationships with families, providing them with the guidance and support they need to navigate their child’s developmental journey. The collaborative and personal nature of this work make a lasting difference to my clients.
As a manager, I love coaching and developing other clinicians and having the opportunity to inspire and guide them toward their professional growth. Witnessing their progress and successes is highly rewarding, as it not only contributes to their personal development but also improves the quality of care for our clients.
Why did you join Superyou?
As clinicians, we are very good at helping others, but not so great at looking after ourselves. I’ve always believed that if clinicians are looked after, they are supported and happy, then their clients will reap the benefits. They will get a clinician who is innovative and creative, that can put in 110%, can hold space for them and support them. When I discovered Superyou’s philosophy that clinicians come first, I knew I had found a company that mirrored my own values and couldn’t wait to sign up!
What does Reimagining Therapy look like to you?
Reimagining therapy means moving beyond traditional methods to find more effective, engaging, and accessible ways to support clients. It requires fostering a culture of continuous learning and adaptation, where clinicians are encouraged to explore new ideas, collaborate, and push the boundaries of what is possible.
