What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
Since I was young, I always had an interest in working within a health care field. Speech Pathology provides me the opportunity to work in a range of different therapeutic areas, such as augmentative and alternative communication, dysphagia and mealtimes, language and literacy, so my days are never the same! Communication is a human right, so I love that this field provides me the opportunity to empower and support my clients to communicate in the ways that are most meaningful and accessible to them.
Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?
I have a passion for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). I currently provide supports in direct therapy intervention, as well as a consultant as part of the AAC Specialist team. I enjoy working with clients, families and clinicians to identify communication supports that empower individuals to express themselves, interact with others and participate in their community, in the ways that are most meaningful to them. I also work within the areas of early intervention, mealtimes and dysphagia, and literacy with the Sounds-Write program.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
My favourite part of my job is working with my clients and families on a long-term basis, and being able to develop holistic and individualised therapy plans to help them achieve their goals. I put a strong focus on building rapport with my clients, to understand their interests, motivations and unique needs and strengths. By tailoring therapy to each individual’s circumstances, I can make a significant and lasting impact on their communication skills and quality of life. Having the opportunity to support a client to develop their ability to communicate, advocate and engage in the way that is most meaningful to them is the most rewarding part of my job.
Why did you join Superyou?

This forward-thinking environment allows me to continuously develop and implement creative and effective therapy strategies that truly make a difference in my clients’ lives, whilst being a part of a collaborative, welcoming and supportive team environment.
What does Reimagining Therapy look like to you?
Reimagining therapy, to me, meanings going beyond the status quo and constantly seeking innovative ways to support and empower our clients, families and their supports. It involves embracing creative to develop personalised and effective therapy strategies.
