What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
I’ve always been driven towards a career in helping people, and the day I discovered Speech Pathology, I couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else! I feel so lucky to have a job that gives me the opportunity to empower others to find their voice and make a difference, whilst being creative and having fun at the same time. I love the meaningful and rewarding nature of being a Speechie, and celebrating all the wins – no matter how small.
Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?
I value having a diverse caseload which includes a variety of my interest areas, including Autism and early childhood intervention, speech sound disorders, language & literacy, AAC and social communication, with a neurodiverse-affirming approach tailored to every client. I enjoy working with both paediatric and adult populations, as it allows me to support a wide range of communication needs across different stages of life.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
What I love most about being a Speech Pathologist is the opportunity to create fun, safe and supportive spaces for my clients to achieve their goals. Working alongside families, building relationships and watching my clients progress towards their goals is such a rewarding experience. I also love that every day brings something new and there is never a dull day on the job!
