What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
I chose occupational therapy because of my strong interest in helping people engage in the everyday activities that are meaningful to them. I value OT’s focus on function and participation, whether that involves self-care, play, movement, or daily routines. The holistic approach of the profession aligns closely with how I like to work, considering the whole person rather than just one aspect of their needs. I also enjoy the creativity and problem-solving involved in adapting supports to suit each individual. Supporting people to build confidence, independence, and participation in their daily lives is what makes occupational therapy such a fulfilling career choice for me.
Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?
I enjoy the diversity of occupational therapy and am keen to continue developing my skills across a broad range of areas and age groups. I have a particular interest in supporting independence with self-care activities such as dressing, routines, and toileting, as well as promoting engagement within the school environment. I am especially passionate about paediatrics and early childhood intervention, while also valuing opportunities to work with individuals across different ages.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
The most rewarding part of my role as an occupational therapist is building meaningful, trusting relationships with clients and supporting them to work towards goals that matter to them. I also enjoy the variety that OT offers, as each client and each day is different. I love having the opportunity to approach goals creatively and find fun and engaging ways to progress in them.
Why did you join Superyou?
I chose to join Superyou because of its strong emphasis on learning, professional growth, and collaboration. I was particularly drawn to the supportive team culture and the opportunity to develop my clinical skills alongside and with other therapists. Superyou’s commitment to client-centred and innovative practice aligns closely with my own values, and I was excited by the opportunity to grow within a team that prioritises support for both clinicians and the people they work with.
