Talking Mats is a research-based tool to help people think about a topic or issue and communicate their opinions, ideas and preferences more effectively. Foundation training enables attendees to gain the necessary skills and strategies to use the Talking Mats principles which help to facilitate communication using this tool.
About the training:
Talking Mats Foundation training is run by Tanith Brien, Superyou Speech Pathologist and Principal Consultant of Assistive Technology. The training runs across two mandatory half-day sessions. Participants will receive 6 CPD points and a certificate of attendance.
Please note: Ticket costs are inclusive of both sessions.
Both sessions are mandatory, and participants are required to practice using Talking Mats between the sessions.
This enables you to have more ‘hands-on’ experience with Talking Mats and provides the opportunity to explore and discuss any issues or questions you may come across!
This training will help you:

- Reflect on your own communication and evaluate your own ongoing implementation of Talking Mats
- Learn how to use careful planning to further explore issues that may arise
