What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?

I’ve always been fascinated by the power of language and how essential it is for connecting with others. The opportunity to support people in expressing themselves, whether through speech, gestures, or alternative communication methods, deeply motivates me. I’m particularly inspired by the ability to work across multimodal domains, where different tools, such as assistive technology or visual aids, can empower individuals to find their voice. Seeing the profound impact that improved communication can have on a person’s life is something deeply special to me.

Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?

I am particularly drawn to working with speech sounds and phonological interventions, helping individuals improve articulation and phonological awareness. I am also fascinated by multimodal communication, using a range of tools and strategies to support those with complex communication needs. Additionally, I have a strong interest in literacy, particularly how speech and language development intertwine with reading and writing skills.

What’s your favourite part of your job?

What I enjoy most about my job is the opportunity to work closely with parents and families. Developing strong, collaborative relationships with families and communication partners allows me to create personalised strategies that integrate seamlessly into the home environment, making communication more effective and meaningful. I find great fulfillment in helping my clients discover their unique voice and empowering them to communicate confidently, whether through speech or alternative methods.
