What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
I was intrigued by the Speech Pathology profession from a very young age. My brother had seen a Speech Pathologist for a few years, and I remember sitting in on his therapy sessions thinking how rewarding (and totally awesome) it would be to be that special person that will support someone to achieve their communication goals. So, here I am!
Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?
My special area of interest is in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). I enjoy working with my clients, their families, and their supports, to get the right equipment for them, to ensure that they are able to communicate and participate to the best of their ability.
What's your favourite part of your job?
I'm constantly learning and growing every day, no day is ever the same! I love being out on the road - supporting clients to achieve their communication goals across all of their environments (home, school and out in the community).
Why did you join Superyou?
I wanted to be part of something new and exciting, and work for an organisation which values its staff and clients. Superyou truly prioritises employees to ensure we can prioritise and provide the best service for our clients.
I also wanted to be able to help reimagine therapy in WA and provide excellent person-centred care to achieve great outcomes for our clients.

What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
I was driven to choose a career in occupational therapy because of my strong desire to help individuals lead fulfilling and independent lives. The holistic approach of occupational therapy, focusing on both physical and emotional well-being, deeply resonated with me. Witnessing the transformative impact of therapy on people's daily lives, particularly those with developmental challenges inspired me to pursue this path. Additionally, the opportunity to work collaboratively with families and other professionals to develop personalised interventions fuelled my passion for this rewarding and impactful career.
Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?
I love the broadness of occupational therapy, which is why I have no plans to specialise as of yet. I have a particular interest in Early Childhood Intervention, as I love to see how little lives can be impacted positively by occupational therapy.
I love being able to play all day and get to call it work! Being able to see the smiles on the little kiddies, and see them achieve their goals through play is one of the most rewarding parts of this profession. Not to mention, I love being able to work within a tightknit team, who support and encourage each other to be the best therapist they can be.
What's your favourite part of your job?
Superyou offered so many principles that aligned with my own values. They offered a supportive, and accommodating environment that meant I could develop my clinical skills in a team that would encourage me to be the best I could be, rather than expecting me to fit an existing mold. Superyou offered innovation and was changing the way therapy is delivered, which I thought was what occupational therapy should be about.

Samantha Carlson

Samantha is a speech pathologist who brings genuine warmth, curiosity, and creativity to every session. Drawn to the health field from a young age, she discovered a deep passion for speech pathology after seeing the meaningful impact it had within her own family. What started as an interest soon grew into a love for the variety the profession offers—working with diverse clients, tailoring approaches, and exploring the many specialties within communication support.
Samantha has a particular interest in early language development as well as school‑aged language and literacy. She values the strong, trusting relationships she builds with children, young people, and their families, and she approaches each client with a thoughtful, neurodiversity‑affirming mindset. Thinking outside the box comes naturally to her; she enjoys collaborating closely with clients to understand their goals and create supports that feel authentic, practical, and empowering.
After many years in a small private practice, Samantha was drawn to working within a multidisciplinary team where collaboration and shared learning thrive. Superyou’s commitment to neurodiversity‑affirming practice deeply resonated with her, and she is passionate about contributing to an environment where clients feel safe, respected, and celebrated.
Outside the clinic, Samantha enjoys travelling and spending time with her rescue cat, Enzo—who has proudly appointed himself her unofficial assistant.

What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
I was inspired to change careers to speech pathology after tutoring a client with a learning disability. During this time, I witnessed the significant impact that tailored support can have, sparking a passion for helping others.

Her valuable insights and recommendation reinforced the idea that speech pathology is a truly rewarding profession that can make a real difference in people's lives.

What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
I have loved talking and interacting with people since I was young and that soon shaped into this drive to support people which eventually led me to allied health. I also enjoy living all the small wins with people, working towards their long term goals.

I really enjoy providing mealtime supports as food is such a huge part of my culture and live and knowing this drives me to get creative to ensure all our clients can enjoy all the foods they love whilst being safe. I also enjoy working in Early Intervention, following the child's lead in therapy and supporting them with their communication development through play and meaningful experiences.

Tracy Spencer
Fremantle
With over 15 years of experience in the field of Occupational Therapy, Tracy has had the privilege of working with individuals across all age groups, primarily in the areas of disability and psychosocial disability. More recently, she has focused on supporting autistic adults—especially those who are late diagnosed—as well as adults with psychosocial disability. Tracy has extensive experience conducting therapy via videoconference, having worked solely in telehealth for the past 6 years. This allows Tracy to connect with clients all across the country.
Tracy’s approach to therapy is grounded in her upbringing on a farm, where creativity and practical problem-solving were part of everyday life. This background has shaped her unique style of therapy, which combines practical strategies, with creativity and a deep understanding of the human mind (specifically executive functioning and nervous system regulation).
Tracy is passionate about using a trauma informed coaching-style approach in her work, partnering with clients to empower them in identifying and working towards their personal goals. She helps clients navigate and work with their unique nervous systems and brains, not against them, as they strive to achieve meaningful outcomes in their own ways.
When not working, Tracy enjoys being a Mum of 2 children, walking amongst the trees, lego, puzzles, listening to music, going to the gym and mostly recently, scuba-diving (a very proud achievement of hers recently and something that she thought she would never ever do)!
