What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?

I come from a long line of family member that have devoted their life to the service and support of others which has always inspired me to give back to my community. See others achieve goals and engage in tasks they never thought possible drove me to peruse a career in occupational therapy. Nothing brings me more joy then enabling someone to live their fullest life.

Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?

My specialty area of occupational therapy is animal-assisted therapy! Most people know me not by name but by my therapy dog, Koda. I choose to embark on my journey as a canine-assisted occupational therapist during my second year of university when I witnessed first hand the power of animals on regulation, engagement and motivation during one of my placements. From their my passion only grew and I knew my path was to to enable others to achieve their goals with 4 little fluffy paws by my side.

What’s your favourite part of your job?

What I love most about my job is the ability to building the capacity of not only my clients but their entire family to support and empower them to achieve their goals.
