What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
I have a previous career in public relations/media, after working a few years on organising press conferences and product launch events, I wanted to develop a career that is more meaningful and impacts people’s lives positively. I have strong interest in communication and language, and that drove me to Speech Pathology!
Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?
Absolutely AAC as I’m in the AAC team! English is my second language and I can really empathise with people who cannot communicate freely (that still happens to me every now and then!). I resonate with people who don’t have a voice and am dedicated to giving them a voice with my professional knowledge.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
Definitely helping people to have a ‘voice’ and express themselves freely, or just building their capacity to do so! Empowering my clients to have access to an alternate way to express messages other than verbal language, and build up their confidence to communicate freely. Seeing the joy from clients and their families when achieving these little steps are the best motivation!
Why did you join Superyou?
I just came back from maternity leave (my little one just turned one year old) and wanting to find a workplace that cares for its employees, have the flexibility and of course a place that I can continue doing what I love – AAC. Superyou meets all my needs!
