Maddie is a Team Lead Occupational Therapist based at Superyou’s Wanneroo office, with over five years’ experience working in the disability sector and a further 1.5–2 years in aged care. She has supported clients across the lifespan, with her strongest areas of practice sitting within the psychosocial space and with individuals who require assistive technology (AT) or mealtime supports. Maddie has extensive experience working with teenagers and young adults through to adults, which aligns closely with the functional capacity assessments (FCAs) and Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) work she regularly completes. She values the opportunity to work alongside people from diverse backgrounds, abilities, and life experiences, and believes every client brings something new to learn from.
Maddie’s key areas of interest and expertise include assistive technology, mealtimes support, and working with psychosocial clients, with FCAs a strong bonus area of practice. She is passionate about understanding the whole person and supporting people to live lives that feel fulfilling, authentic, and aligned with their goals. Whether she’s helping someone navigate psychosocial challenges, identify the right AT solutions, support positive and safe mealtime experiences, or complete comprehensive assessments, Maddie brings a practical, empathetic, and evidence‑based approach to her work, always with a focus on building confidence and independence.
Her approach to therapy is relaxed, supportive, and collaborative. Maddie believes therapy works best when it feels like a partnership, with the client as the expert in their own life. She creates a calm and comfortable space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to guide the direction of therapy. Maddie focuses on what truly matters to each person, working alongside them to build meaningful, achievable strategies that fit naturally into their daily routines, environments, and lifestyle. Her goal is to support people to do the things they want and need to do in a way that feels sustainable, respectful, and genuinely supportive of their journey.
Maddie is deeply committed to ongoing learning and leadership, having completed extensive training in assistive technology, Sonia’s Postural Assessment training, SOS Approach to Feeding (integrated through a neurodiversity‑affirming lens), SDA and minor home modifications training, as well as STARA supervision training and Michelle Bihary’s supervision program. Outside of work, Maddie is an active, social person who loves spending time with family and friends. She plays and coaches netball, enjoys Muay Thai, hiking, running, and coastal walks, and is happiest outdoors (weather permitting!). When she slows down, she’s usually deep in a romantasy or fantasy novel. What Maddie loves most about her work is her team — the culture, connection, and shared growth at SY are something she’s incredibly proud of, and a big reason she shows up excited each day.
