What drove you to choose a career in your discipline?
I was driven to choose a career in occupational therapy because of my strong desire to help individuals lead fulfilling and independent lives. The holistic approach of occupational therapy, focusing on both physical and emotional well-being, deeply resonated with me. Witnessing the transformative impact of therapy on people’s daily lives, particularly those with developmental challenges inspired me to pursue this path. Additionally, the opportunity to work collaboratively with families and other professionals to develop personalised interventions fuelled my passion for this rewarding and impactful career.
Do you have any special interest areas in therapy?
I love the broadness of occupational therapy, which is why I have no plans to specialise as of yet. I have a particular interest in Early Childhood Intervention, as I love to see how little lives can be impacted positively by occupational therapy.
I love being able to play all day and get to call it work! Being able to see the smiles on the little kiddies, and see them achieve their goals through play is one of the most rewarding parts of this profession. Not to mention, I love being able to work within a tightknit team, who support and encourage each other to be the best therapist they can be.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
Superyou offered so many principles that aligned with my own values. They offered a supportive, and accommodating environment that meant I could develop my clinical skills in a team that would encourage me to be the best I could be, rather than expecting me to fit an existing mold. Superyou offered innovation and was changing the way therapy is delivered, which I thought was what occupational therapy should be about.
